
Jesse A. Mejia
A native of Los Angeles, CA, Jesse is an alumnus of Phillips Exeter Academy. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications from Syracuse University in 1997 and his MBA from Georgetown University in 2003.
After graduating from Syracuse, Jesse worked for Dun & Bradstreet as a Senior Consultant and advised small and large companies on the principles of Risk Management. After finishing business school, Jesse worked for General Motors and for the Volkswagen Group of America, where he focused on Corporate Strategy, Risk Management, and New Business Development. While at GM, Jesse was a corporate recruiter and interviewer at the National Society of Hispanic MBAs’ annual conference.
In addition to his corporate experience, Jesse pursued his passion for motivational speaking and personal coaching, working with individuals on goal setting and planning for success. Jesse has presented at several colleges across the country, including Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Stony Brook University and Syracuse University.
At Georgetown, Jesse worked extensively with the MBA admissions office recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating applicants. Additionally, Jesse led an initiative to increase the diversity of the applicant pool and facilitated workshops on how to apply to business school. Jesse has taken this knowledge and developed a successful method to assist individuals get admitted to top MBA programs
Since 2004, Jesse has advised business school applicants. He is passionate about helping people succeed and founded MBA Catalyst to help others realize their dream of obtaining their MBA.
Roberto Villanueva
Currently a Chicago resident, Roberto was born in Honduras and raised in New York City. Roberto earned his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Labor Relations from Cornell University and his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. While a student, Roberto worked closely with Cornell’s and the University of Pennsylvania’s admissions offices to recruit applicants. As a Cornell Ambassador, Roberto conducted recruiting workshops at various high schools in Queens, New York. At the University of Pennsylvania’s Law School, Roberto was an Admissions Reader and worked with administration and other Latino students to increase Latino recruitment. Serving as an Admission Reader gave Roberto the opportunity to develop a unique perspective on advising applicants, and since then, he has advised law school applicants on their personal essays and overall applications.
After receiving his J.D., Roberto channeled his energy in advising and representing his clients in labor and employment law matters. He practiced at the firm of Littler Mendelson in Chicago before moving onto the labor and employment law firms of Whitfield & McGann and Dowd Bloch & Bennett. Roberto continues to provide high quality services to clients as a legal consultant. His law experience has developed excellent client and extensive advocacy skills, including persuasive writing.
In addition to his legal practice, Roberto has pursued his passion for advising aspiring law school and business school applicants. He joined MBA Catalyst to help individuals with the application process. Roberto’s recruiting experience, law school admission reader experience, and his legal experience allows him to assist applicants formulate a persuasive and successful application.
